Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate, mission-driven Director or Senior Director of Political Strategy at Resonate to grow our Matchmaker program, which is aimed at improving the presence of left-leaning elected officials online. This role will manage a key set of relationships with elected officials and their staff, providing critical assistance to grow their social media engagement, primarily with cultural shows and creators. Our goal is to change the way our leaders are communicating online so they can connect with Americans in the places where they are actually spending time.
Responsibilities
Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Resonate with an assigned portfolio of elected officials and their senior staff.
- Build relationships that advance Resonate’s strategic priorities with creators, show hosts, media personalities, and producers of popular political and nonpolitical podcasts, YouTube shows, and other modern media content across social media and streaming platforms.
Modern Media Engagement
- Secure long-form and short-form appearances for elected officials on modern media platforms.
- In partnership with VP of Political Strategy and other Resonate staff, create tailored strategies to help left-leaning elected officials improve their digital communications strategies and online presence.
- Work directly with external consultants to grow Resonate’s relationships with nonpolitical cultural media.
Content Strategy & Analysis
- Monitor political and cultural news to identify opportunities for pitching rapid-response media opportunities for elected officials.
- Build an internal database of nonpolitical modern media entities to inform Resonate’s external strategy as well as track ongoing engagement.
- Work with the VP of Political Strategy to develop tracking systems and benchmarks for measuring success, including secured bookings, new relationships with media entities, and ongoing conversations with elected officials and staff.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience for the Director role or 8+ for the Senior Director role in electoral politics, government, or issue advocacy. Experience working in senior roles on political campaigns and managing or engaging with principals strongly preferred.
- A strong desire to work at the intersection of politics and modern media. Experience managing digital media partnerships strongly preferred.
Voracious consumer of digital content across platforms and subjects. - Detail-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple projects and turn around work on a tight timeline.
- Excellent communications skills and savvy political judgment, especially in building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.
- A commitment to building a positive team environment, collaborating, and developing new skills as needed.
