Description
Participates with psychiatrists, social workers, therapist, peer support, family peer support, MDFTs, and nurses in the complete care of psychiatric patients. Interviews, diagnoses, and prescribes care and treatment of psychiatric patients. Services are offered in the Center, school based and or telehealth. Administers medication, psychotherapy, and provides evaluation of patients and consultation to non-medical personnel, if applicable. Provides consultation with and advises peers, agency representatives, staff members in the care and treatment of psychiatric patients. These professional duties require analysis of broad problems and planning interrelated activities in a multidisciplinary team approach. Provides services in a culturally sensitive manner. Primary Responsibilities
- Collegial multispecialty group practice with a large referral base and focus on team-based care
- Excellent support staff and dedicated practice management systems in place that enable you to practice at the peak of your medical license
- Provide psychopharmacology, medication management, and psychotherapy
- Collaborate with Psychiatric Advanced Practice Clinicians
- Full complement of clinical and administrative support teams to assist with patient care
- Precept student learners (medical students, physician assistants, residents, and nurse practitioners) in a clinical setting as schedule allows.
Required Qualifications
- Residency training in General Psychiatry.
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in General Psychiatry and/or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, preferred
- Active and unrestricted M.D or D.O. license to practice medicine, in the state of South Carolina.
- Licensed or eligible for license to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina.
- Two (2) years of experience in psychiatric programs working with adults and children.
- Job requires a thorough knowledge of the techniques and skills used in examination, diagnosis & treatment of the mentally ill.
- Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of psychiatric medicine.
- Extensive knowledge of recent developments in the field of psychiatric medicine.
- Ability to plan and coordinate medical and psychiatric services for severe persistent mentally ill patients with a treatment team approach.
