Description
Seeking an experienced Lead Gardener to supervise and support field crews performing garden and landscape bed maintenance and small-scale installations. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced horticulture professional who takes pride in high-quality results, strong teamwork, and excellent customer communication. This can be a Full or Part Time Position. Seasonal April-November. Also hiring Entry level Garden Crew members at $18-$20/hr. full or part time.
What You’ll Do
Lead day-to-day maintenance of annual and perennial landscape beds
Perform and oversee bed cleanups, weeding, mulching/topdressing, planting annuals/perennials, and pruning
Support small-scale landscape installations and ensure work meets quality expectations
Operate hand tools and ensure safe tool use across the crew
Leadership & Supervision Responsibilities
Provide on-site leadership: assign tasks, set the pace, and keep the crew aligned on priorities (time management is key)
Train and coach new crew members on methods, quality standards, and safety expectations
Maintain a positive, solutions-focused work environment and help the team stay efficient in changing conditions
Communicate professionally with customers and represent the company well at job sites
Requirements
Requirements
3+ years of horticulture/gardening/landscape experience
Strong plant knowledge (regional plant types, basic plant needs and care)
Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
Strong attention to detail and customer communication skills
Able to lift 40–50 lbs regularly and perform physical work (bending, kneeling, walking for extended periods)
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather (heat, humidity, cold, wind)
Valid driver’s license; reliable vehicle and cell phone (local travel required)
Preferred / Bonus Skills
Prior leadership or supervisory experience
Experience operating leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, weed trimmers, and small engines
Pesticide Applicator License (MN or WI)
Experience driving a truck and trailer
