Description
A Maker-in-Residence works with our MetaSpace 511 Lead Innovator Nancy to create a program to teach the community based on their skills and interests. This mentor-based residency allows the Maker-in-Residence to develop career skills while sharing their talents with the community. This residency is for Teens ages 16-18 in the Mukwonago Area. This is a 10-hour-a-week paid residency for eight weeks at $100.00 per week. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and this residency is available throughout the year!
A Maker-in-Residence will select an area of interest and will work with people and technology in a creative workspace, interacting and communicating with the public and library staff. They will work closely with the MetaSpace 511 Lead Innovator as their residency mentor to develop and implement projects. They will utilize problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in open-ended and unpredictable situations. They can learn and use makerspace equipment as part of their residency. They will complete an eight-week training program.
Requirements
- Needs to be a High School / Homeschool student ages 16-18 years of age in the greater Mukwonago area.
- Needs to work 10 hours a week, typically after school, and three Wednesdays during the eight weeks.
- Needs to be creative, willing to learn, and willing to fail.
- Needs to be flexible, dependable, and demonstrate initiative.
- Needs to be excited about learning a variety of tools and concepts, from creative to technical.
- Needs to be willing to represent the Library and MetaSpace 511 in a positive manner.
- Needs to be willing to work independently, unsupervised, and with other Library staff.
- Needs to have the ability to problem solve and learn technological fundamentals.
- Needs to have the ability to develop rapport with Library customers of all ages.
