Job/Position Summary:
We're looking for a high-performing, self-starting Strategic Business Development Manager (SBDM) to drive revenue growth in the rapidly evolving robotics, automation, and emerging tech sectors. In this role, you'll identify, pursue, and win high-value manufacturing programs from fast-scaling OEMs and innovators across the industry.
This is a hunter-first role designed for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and understands how to build a book of business from the ground up. You'll begin with a select list of warm, underleveraged accounts, and focus on adding net new logos that will evolve into a strategic, recurring customer portfolio. Over time, you'll transition into full Strategic Account Manager (SAM) responsibilities as your book matures.
Primary Responsibilities:
Drive new business acquisition from OEMs, Tier 1s, and high-growth companies in robotics, industrial automation, autonomous systems, and advanced technology markets
Expand existing underperforming accounts by identifying new programs and decision-makers
Partner with internal sales leadership to define and execute go-to-market strategies for your vertical
Collaborate with Strategic Account Managers to deploy case studies and success stories into new prospecting efforts
Position Fathom's full suite of manufacturing services—including CNC machining, additive manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, composite layups, and full system assembly—as solutions for your customers' most complex production needs
Work cross-functionally with quoting, marketing, RevOps, and customer support teams to deliver on customer expectations
Own all sales activity through Salesforce, with full support from our centralized operations model
Requirements:
A proven track record in business development or sales within robotics, automation, or related tech-enabled manufacturing sectors
Experience managing complex sales cycles and engaging with engineering, procurement, and supply chain teams
High energy and initiative with the ability to self-source pipeline and drive deals to close
Deep understanding of the challenges faced by high-growth hardware companies and how contract manufacturing can support scale
Excellent communication skills, both technical and executive
A growth mindset—eager to build, adapt, and take full ownership of a vertical strategy
