Now Hiring: Certified Hospital Medical Coders – Remote | $35/Hour | 1099 Contract

GetixHealth is hiring 5+ experienced Certified Medical Coders to support a hospital-based coding project. This is a 100% remote, 1099 independent contractor opportunity offering $35.00 per hour.

We are seeking experienced coders with strong hospital coding backgrounds who can work independently, maintain high accuracy and productivity standards, and contribute immediately to a fast-paced coding environment.

Position Highlights:
Pay: $35.00/hour

Work Location: 100% Remote
Employment Type: 1099 Independent Contractor
Contract Length: Short-term or long-term assignments available
Full-Time Opportunity: Contractors may have the opportunity to convert to a full-time GetixHealth employee based on performance, business needs, and mutual interest
Equipment: Contractors must provide their own computer equipment and reliable high-speed internet

Candidates must have relevant professional coding experience and appropriate certification for their coding specialty.

For Inpatient Hospital Coding:

• Current AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or AAPC Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) certification
• Strong working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG assignment
• Professional experience reviewing inpatient hospital medical records and assigning accurate diagnosis and procedure codes
• Strong understanding of coding guidelines, compliance requirements, and documentation standards

For Professional/Specialty Coding:
Candidates with the following credentials and relevant professional-fee coding experience may also be considered:

• CPC
• CCS-P
• CCS with professional-fee (ProFee) coding experience
• CIRCC
• Specialty coding experience involving interventional radiology, vascular procedures, and/or open-heart/cardiovascular surgeries is highly desirable

Key Responsibilities:

• Review hospital medical records and clinical documentation for accurate code assignment
• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes based on coding specialty
• Apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and/or DRG methodology as applicable
• Ensure coding is accurate, complete, compliant, and supported by clinical documentation
• Follow applicable payer, regulatory, and organizational coding guidelines
• Consistently meet established productivity, accuracy, and quality standards
• Identify documentation concerns and coding discrepancies when appropriate
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and healthcare professionals as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable healthcare requirements

What We're Looking For:
Successful candidates will be experienced coders who are:

• Highly accurate and detail-oriented
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
• Able to manage productivity expectations and deadlines
• Knowledgeable about current coding guidelines and compliance standards
• Strong in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical documentation review
• Dependable and able to begin contributing with minimal training

Independent Contractor Requirements:
This position begins as a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, with both short-term and long-term contract assignments available. Contractors are responsible for providing and maintaining the equipment, reliable internet connectivity, and workspace necessary to perform services remotely.
