Description
SAFY (Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth) is a multi-state nonprofit with over 40 years of experience providing foster care, family supportive services, and behavioral health programs. Operating across seven states with 30 divisions, we work every day to keep children safe, families together, and communities strong.
We're seeking an experienced contract grant writer to write compelling strengths-based proposals to corporate and private foundations on behalf of SAFY's divisions. You'll work directly with SAFY's Strategic Development team who manages a full RFP and grant portfolio and we're looking to bring on contract support to expand our capacity during periods of high demand.
Core responsibilities include:
- Write letters of inquiry and grant proposals to corporate and private foundations
- Work closely with SAFY's Strategic Development team to gather program information, data, and organizational background
- Translate complex program and service delivery content into clear, compelling funder narratives
- Meet agreed-upon deadlines and communicate proactively about timeline, questions, or barriers
- Ensure all materials reflect SAFY's brand voice, values, and approved program terminology
Requirements
We're open to candidates at a range of experience levels. The right fit will bring:
- Demonstrated experience writing successful grant proposals to corporate and private foundations
- Strong writing skills with the ability to work from provided materials and shape them into donor-facing narratives
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and collaborate effectively with a small internal team
- Familiarity with child welfare, human services, or related nonprofit sectors
- Grant Professional Certified (GPC) credential (preferred)
