About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Imaging Informatics Consultant to support healthcare organizations in optimizing medical imaging ecosystems, modernizing imaging workflows, and advancing enterprise imaging strategies. This role requires deep expertise across PACS, VNA, imaging interoperability, radiology workflows, cloud technologies, and enterprise imaging platforms.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with healthcare operational experience and the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Assess, design, and optimize enterprise imaging environments across radiology and related imaging domains.
Provide subject matter expertise on PACS, VNA, RIS, and imaging workflow technologies.
Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve imaging workflow, integration, routing, and modality connectivity issues.
Support imaging platform migrations, consolidations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.
Advise healthcare organizations on enterprise imaging architecture, interoperability, and data management strategies.
Collaborate with clinical, operational, and technical teams to improve imaging data accessibility, workflow efficiency, and system performance.
Facilitate stakeholder discussions, develop recommendations, and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Participate in project planning, implementation, testing, and go-live support activities.
Contribute to deliverable development, status reporting, client communications, and workstream execution within consulting engagements.
Work effectively within multidisciplinary consulting and client teams while managing expectations and project objectives.
Required Qualifications
Strong knowledge of medical imaging workflows and healthcare imaging ecosystems.
Experience with multiple PACS platforms, including: Agfa, Fuji, GE, Hologic, Intelerad, Philips, Sectra, Siemens, Visage
Experience with Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) technologies, including: Agfa, Canon, Fuji, Hyland/ACUO, Mach7, Sectra
Familiarity with both traditional and deconstructed PACS architectures.
Experience with post-processing and advanced imaging applications such as: GE Advantage Workstation, TeraRecon, MedisSuite, RAPID, Arterys, HeartFlow, Isometrix, iSchemaView, Vitrea, Vital Images
Strong understanding of: DICOM, HL7, IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise)
Experience with imaging integrations involving: PACS systems, Imaging applications, Radiology modalities, Enterprise imaging platforms
Experience receiving and sending imaging data between multiple systems and modalities.
Experience with DICOM routing technologies including: ACUO/Hyland, Candelis, DICOM Systems
Knowledge of: Imaging workflow and dataflow design routing rules and configurations
Experience with Epic Radiant and other Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
Ability to perform modality configuration and troubleshooting across multiple vendor platforms, including: Canon, Carestream, GE, Philips,Siemens
Knowledge of modality vendor support processes.
Experience analyzing and resolving image routing and modality connectivity issues.
Working knowledge of cloud computing environments, including: Hybrid cloud, Private and Public cloud
Experience with one or more leading cloud providers: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Understanding of Networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, AE Titles, Device addressing, Imaging infrastructure architecture
Working knowledge of: Windows operating systems and Unix/Linux operating systems
Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions within medical imaging, including: Aidoc, Annalise, Viz.ai, Riverain, Subtle Medical
Exposure to additional imaging domains such as: Cardiology, Endoscopy, Digital Pathology, Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS)
Experience utilizing ticketing and service management platforms such as ServiceNow.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project delivery frameworks.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Former PACS Administrator experience.
Experience working within:
Academic Medical Centers (AMCs)
Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs)
Large healthcare systems
Leading medical imaging technology vendors
Previous healthcare consulting experience.
Experience leading client-facing initiatives and managing workstreams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Active participation in the medical imaging industry through professional organizations, speaking engagements, publications, or industry events.
Former radiologic technologist experience and/or ARRT certification.
CIIP (Certified Imaging Informatics Professional) certification through the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM).
