Description
The Alliance Group is a well-established tenant credit consultant serving the commercial real estate industry for over 30 years. It serves over 100 CRE owners, lenders, and investors and assists in helping them understand tenant credit and appropriate security enhancements. You'll produce written tenant and guarantor credit reviews from start to finish: spreading financial statements, analyzing revenues, profitability, capitalization, and cash flow/liquidity, interviewing company management (typically the CFO), and synthesizing your findings into a clear risk assessment with a numerical tenant-risk rating. Reports follow a well-developed methodology and style, with editorial review and feedback as you ramp up.
This is hands-on fundamental credit work. Most subjects are private middle-market companies, so you'll often be working from internally prepared financials, incomplete disclosure, and management representations — and exercising judgment about what to trust and how to caveat it.
What You'll Do
Analyze audited and internal financial statements; build standardized financial spreads (revenues through cash flow) in our house format
Assess leverage, coverage, liquidity, and payment reliability from a landlord's perspective
Conduct management interviews to fill disclosure gaps and pressure-test projections
Research companies via public filings, trade press, ratings agency coverage, and market data
Write dense, balanced analytical narrative — every claim sourced, every positive weighed against its offsets
Assign and defend a tenant risk rating supported by your analysis
Requirements
3+ years in credit analysis, leveraged finance, commercial lending, ratings, or a similar fundamental credit role
Strong accounting fluency: comfortable moving through a full set of statements, normalizing EBITDA, and reconstructing cash flow when disclosure is thin
Excellent analytical writing — this is a writing-intensive role, and clear, skeptical, well-organized prose is the product
Sound professional skepticism, especially toward management projections
Self-directed and reliable working remotely on deadline
CFA charterholder or candidate preferred; CPA or credit-training backgrounds also welcome
Commercial real estate or lease credit experience a plus, but not required — we'll teach the CRE lens
